The Ski Train's 67th season gets rolling today, and although the ride to Winter Park is an old Denver tradition, there's always something new. "This year we have a new car, the Retreat," says president Jim Bain. "That doesn't mean it goes backwards. It's a presentation car with a podium, a big screen and four couches in the back. You can rent it for fifty people for $4,500. It's like a rolling bar." But in case your budget doesn't stretch to that level of business class, a round trip on the Ski Train at $49 coach, $74 club, with group and lift-ticket discounts is still a real deal, particularly when you factor in the cost of gas and the pain of traffic. The train pulling out of Union Station at 7:15 a.m. this morning is already sold out, but holiday trips continue December 28 through 30. After that, the train reverts to its regular Saturday/Sunday schedule in January, adding Fridays in February and Thursdays in March. For tickets, go to www.skitrain.com or call 303-296-4754.
