For the 2012 version of her annual fundraiser for the Colorado AIDS Walk, drag queen Ginger Sexton wanted to get all her anger about being HIV-positive out on the table — hence the title, Apocalyptic Ball 3: The Rage. "The ball represents the final year of being in the darkness; as I was fighting the last parts of depression over my diagnosis, I was getting over my bullshit and getting real with life," says Sexton of this year's theme.
The multi-faceted event, which has served the HIV and AIDS community by creating a network of emotional as well as financial support, represents that process, says Sexton, whose given name is Briceson Ducharme.
