"There are so many things that need to be done in Africa," says Natalie McIntyre, a volunteer for the non-profit organization Food for the Hungry. "I know that they need food, but I think it's really important to empower people.
"Fourteen million people in Uganda don't have access to health care," she adds. Changing that statistic is the focus of tonight's Bikes for Uganda fundraising event in the Ben Cherrington Hall cafe on the University of Denver campus. McIntyre wants to raise money to purchase bicycles, which will be used as ambulances and transportation for medical workers.
