Best Instagram Account; Most Viral Video of the Year; Best Politician on Social Media: These are just some of the categories in West-word’s third annual Denver Web Awards, which honor the best and brightest minds and projects on the city’s digital landscape. More than fifty awards dedicated to arts, news, music and food in Denver and Boulder will be doled out, and we’re taking the 2012 theme, Insta-fun, seriously: Attendees will be eligible for prizes simply by chronicling their evening on the app.
But the best part takes place behind the scenes: Each year, the contest begins with our readers, who submit their favorite online projects for nomination; a panel of Westword judges selects the winners and reveals them at a party.

Wanna go? The ceremony, featuring music from local rock junkies Calder’s Revolvers and drinks from Odell Brewing and Colorado Cider (among others), is free with an invitation (which you can find on our Facebook page) and includes a rotating cast of sponsors, events and giveaways — along with comic relief from hosts Sam Tallent and Nathan Lund of the Fine Gentleman’s Club. The party starts tonight at 7 p.m. at RedLine, 2350 Arapahoe Street. For more information, visit polls.westword.com/polls/den/webawards2012.
