“Others states and cities have beer weeks, and we thought we would take this on and give it Colorado’s flavor,” says Guild spokes-man Steve Kurowski. “My expectation this year is to introduce it to beer drinkers and then grow it next year. It can be as big as the breweries want to make it.”
The week begins tonight at 6 p.m. with a Colorado tap takeover at the Falling Rock Tap House, 1919 Blake Street, that will include beers from eighty Guild members — an unprecedented square-state accomplishment.
Other events include the tapping of an all-female-brewer collaboration beer, a pickle-and-beer pairing, several beer dinners, a Kick-the-Keg throwdown, a festival dedicated just to breweries that were founded in the past two years, a firkin fest, and a big closing party called Hops and Handrails at Left Hand Brewing, 1270 Boston Avenue in Longmont. Running from 2 to 7 p.m., Hops and Handrails features 23 breweries, live music, food and a 25-foot-high ski ramp; tickets are $30.
