Consider this a warning to all parents of seven-year-old girls: The folks behind the Cheetah Girls, who plan to (sorta) rock this town tonight, have been targeting your beloved tot since before she was born waiting oh-so-patiently to turn her into a rabid devotee of Cheetah music, DVDs and related merchandise. So either squelch the cable feed to your home immediately, or get a second job to help pay for this stuff.
The Cheetah Girls began in 1999 as a series of books by author Deborah Gregory. Recognizing a potential franchise, execs at the Disney Channel gave the go-ahead to a 2003 made-for-television flick cleverly titled The Cheetah Girls as a vehicle for Raven-Symoné, formerly of The Cosby Show. Its popularity led to a sequel, last year's even more cleverly titled The Cheetah Girls 2, and a holiday CD, Cheetah-licious Christmas and it probably would have spawned a TV series, too, if its star hadn't already been busy with another Disney Channel staple, That's So Raven. Luckily, the three other Girls (Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams and Sabrina Bryan) were available to star in a tour designed to promote the aforementioned products, as well as a clothing line and an electric toothbrush that plays the song "Shake a Tail Feather."
Scared yet, Mom and Dad?
