Armando Thomas Guerra prefers sexy redheads like Lindsay Lohan, his mother's red chile and old Subaru BRATs in green at least that's what he tells Westword's fashion blog, the Cat's Pajamas. The Denver native is gearing up for his fifteen minutes of fame as one of twelve contestants in Tamarac Square's Fashion Project. He's hoping that his sexy shortie jumpers a "milkmaid" theme, he says and other au courant looks will be enough to wow the judges (including moi) and send him to New York Fashion Week this fall.
Joining Guerra in competing for the trip are several of Denver fashion's bold-faced names, including Mona Lucero, Deb Henriksen, Tricia Hoke and Crystal Sharp. But some new faces are also preparing to unholster their scissors and go to war: Kandice Hudson, Lisa Ramfjord Elstun, Nancy Sherman, Gino Velardi, Jose Clark, Alexander Smith and Stephanie Ohnmacht.
Meet everyone tonight on the runway at Tamarac Square, 7777 East Hampden Avenue, at 7 p.m., and start betting on who will represent the Mile High City in the Big Apple. At 8 p.m., the judges will unveil the first challenge for the designers to stitch their way through. Just as on Project Runway, each week the contestants will have to complete an assignment within the week on a set budget. We'll meet them back on the runway April 4, 11, 18 and 25 to see their confections and hear what they'll embark on next.
The drama and designs promise to be off the chart; after all, scoring this winning ticket is like a sports nuts having Broncos season tickets drop from the sky.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your machines.
