The staff at Boulder’s Neptune Mountaineering is encouraging winter revelers to break out their best retro ski duds for the shop’s second annual Winter Fashion Show Fundraiser and Retro Costume Party, which will benefit the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. “We’ll be working our way up through the ages of the best and worst of ski fashion, ending with the hottest new gear we have in the store this season,” says spokeswoman Elaine Vardamis. “We’ve been having a lot of fun putting our own collection from the Neptune archive together — maybe a little too much fun.”
Vardamis says the shop, which will celebrate its fortieth anniversary next year, is offering a 15 percent in-store discount to anyone who shows up in retro costume — as if local winter sports enthusiasts need the excuse — and will also ply party-goers with beverages from Boulder’s Avery and Upslope breweries (as well as an avalanche-themed cake) to help stoke the silent auction.
The party starts at 7 p.m. at the shop, 633 South Broadway in Boulder, then moves next door to the Southern Sun Brewery for an after-party. For more information, visit www.neptunemountaineering.com.
