The name Kennedy presents a heavy burden and a load of possibilities. For decades, various members of the family have maintained an admirable balance between celebrity and relevancy, using that name to propel and promote humanitarian projects. Such is the case with Kerry and Robert Kennedy Jr., two of Robert F. Kennedys eleven children.
Kerry and Robert have followed in their fathers footsteps, all in the pursuit of social and environmental change. Since the early 1980s, Kerry has been a human rights activist in such countries as Northern Ireland, South Korea and the Sudan. Robert, a lawyer, has become one of the leading figures in environmental activism and was named one of Time magazines Heroes for the Planet because of his commitment to restoring the Hudson River.
The siblings will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Buell Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex as part of Unique Lives and Experiences, a lecture series that calls itself a program for women who have a strong desire to learn from the personal experiences of distinguished speakers.
