Do or Die Time
During tonight's third annual Slave to the Deathmatch tournament, Primos Hardcore & Wrestling will once again set the record straight: This isn't play-fighting; it's full-on bloodsport. The highly decorated and world-renowned hardcore-wrestling champion Tommy Dreamer headlines the evening of Japanese-style fighting, along with Necro Butcher (best known for his appearance in 2008's The Wrestler) and more fighters from around the country.
Fresh off her training in Japan, Crazy Mary Dobson will go head-to-head with local champ Cemetery Baby in Colorado's first all-women's death match -- one that Primos owner Joe "Joey Terrofyn" McDougal promises won't be the last. Also unique to this year's tournament is the incorporation of the Juggalo Wrestling League, whose champ, 2 Tuff Tony, will make his way to the ring.
"We've partnered up with federations in California, Texas, Kentucky and more to bring a national product to Denver," says McDougal of the expansion. Last year's Deathmatch was standing-room only, proving that Colorado is definitely ready for more.
Slave to the Deathmatch is hosted by DJ Swagger in Stereo and goes down tonight at Red & Jerry's, 1840 West Oxford Avenue in Sheridan. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and the first match begins at 7:15. Tickets are $20 general admission, $25 ringside, and can be purchased at the door or through www.primoswrestling.com. This event is all-ages, but parental supervision is strongly suggested.
