Dog Days

Everything is going to the dogs these days, but in some cases, that’s not a bad thing, especially when those dogs are suffering, whether they be homeless, mistreated or stricken with cancer. The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Camp Bow Wow doggie daycare chain, is dedicated to just that brand of pup, and to that end, the organization helps dogs find homes or foster care, funds a scholarship at the CSU Animal Cancer Center, raises money for canine cancer research and even rescues street animals from abroad. Tonight the group will extend a helping paw to secondhand dogs by hosting Project RUFFway, a fashion show pairing models wearing appropriately secondhand duds with adoptable dogs wearing nothing but their own sweet personalities.

Along with vintage mutts strutting the runway, the event includes gourmet munchies, speakers and video vignettes guaranteed to pull your heartstrings with true stories about the “Greekies,” a slew of hard-living hounds rescued from Greece by Bow Wow Buddies, or the lovable Kramer, a golden retriever with cancer. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at Mile High Station, 2027 West Colfax Avenue, for the 7:30 show; for tickets, $25 (or $100 for a VIP package that includes a pre-event reception), go to
