“We are very excited for the premiere of the new season of Downton Abbey, so we thought, what better way to celebrate than a costume ball?” says Rocky Mountain PBS’s Connie Jiang. Taking inspiration from the popular British period drama, the Masterpiece Costume Ball will include everything early-twentieth-century British — from clothing and a jazz band to a fully stocked pop-up museum.
To pull it off, the Molly Brown House and the Poudre Landmark Foundation will transform the second story of the Grant-Humphreys Mansion into a place where the fictional Crawley family would feel right at home. “It’s to provide our guests with an idea of what the people from the Downton Abbey era may have experienced,” Jiang adds. The night will include a special preview screening of the first hour of the season-four premiere, as well as live music from the Queen City Jazz Band, a costume contest, dinner and an open bar.
The ball runs tonight from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Grant-Humphreys, 770 Pennsylvania Street. Tickets, $125, are available at rmpbs.org/downtonball or 303-620-5695. Proceeds from the event go toward future programming at Rocky Mountain PBS.
