Dress for Success
Under the Gunn and Project Runway stars Tim Gunn and Mondo Guerra are joining forces this year to host Goodwill’s annual Good Exchange Fashion Show and Clothing Swap, which features both upcycled clothing designs by the young designers of Goodwill’s youth programs and local celebrity models showing off secondhand finds from Goodwill’s Déjà Blue Boutique. “I support Goodwill’s mission, which helps people get back to the workplace,” says local designer Guerra, who’s hosting the event for a fourth year — this time accompanied by Gunn. “When I started four years ago, it was about the kids, designing and allowing the kids to be creative. I wanted to be a part of this because of the kids; it allows them to explore who they are and to be creative and challenge who they are as designers. They don’t get a chance to have individuals critique their work on a design level; the whole show is going to be wonderful!”
Good Exchange begins at 5:30 p.m. tonight at the Exdo Event Center, 1399 35th Street; guests are invited to liven up their wardrobes by bringing ten gently used items to swap. Tickets, $60, benefit Goodwill’s career-development programs for at-risk youth. To purchase yours, and for more information, go to goodwilldenver.org.
