Food can change lives, and so can cooking. That will be the message at tonight’s WomenCook!, the tenth annual fundraiser for Work Options for Women, a Denver nonprofit. “One thing that we’re doing special this year is having ten of our graduates as presenters of the program,” says Work Options director Catherine J. Henry. “They will tell a little bit about their own story, and how their lives have been changed over the years since we first started the organization.” WOW teaches the culinary arts to women in order to give them a skill set they can use to find jobs.

Foodies are invited to this casual walk-around evening of tasting and conversation with more than a dozen of the area’s top women chefs, including Jennifer Jasinski, Samm Sherman and Carrie Blake, who will be serving up signature dishes. WomenCook! runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape Street. Tickets are $125; to purchase yours, or for more information, visit workoptions.org.
Mon., May 5, 6-8:30 p.m., 2014
