When Lauri Lynnxe Murphy opened Capsule Gallery and Event Center at 560 Santa Fe Drive in 2004, it was one artist's gift to the Denver community: a place to show, sell and make art. Unfortunately, the evil forces of real-estate development will soon knock down and pave over Murphy's beloved venue, and she'll move back to a private studio and her life as a full-time artist.

Join Murphy for one last hurrah during Capsule's Goodbye Party and Yard Sale from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow. She'll screen a slide show of Capsule highlights, and several special guests from the community will be on hand to say farewell to one of the art district's biggest boosters.

Reflecting on the loss of Capsule, Murphy says, "Denver history is littered with corpses of cool businesses, and it makes Denver a less cool place every time that happens. It's sad that the real estate is worth more than the community." Visit www.myspace.com/capsulegallery or call 303-623-3460.
