Wackos. Weirdos. Dorks. That's what we call folks who are so into certain subjects, such as Star Wars figures or Andy Griffith Show trivia, that it makes the rest of us uncomfortable. Denver author Shari Caudron wondered what made such fanatics tick and she set off across America to find out. Sometime between chatting up Barbie doll collectors and chasing twisters in Kansas, she came up with the answer, which she describes in Who Are You People?: A Personal Journey Into the Heart of Fanatical Passion in America. "There's a lot of pressure in society to find your happiness through work," she says. "What I found is, if you have this incredible side passion, that's enough to make you happy."
Caudron will recount her adventures and reveal how people can follow their own passions today at 6:30 p.m. in the B2 conference center at the Denver Central Library, 10 West 14th Avenue Parkway. For more information, go to http://denverlibrary.org/programs/fresh/index.html.
