If your Dungeons & Dragons sessions just don't have enough verisimilitude to satisfy your yearnings for the days of yore, head out to Red Rocks Community College, 13300 West Sixth Avenue in Lakewood, for the Fantasy Revel, a free event celebrating times gone by. Today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can enjoy performances by FAMR (Fantasy, Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance) groups acting out battles with all manner of replica fantasy and medieval weaponry. If watching simulated warfare isn't your thing, there are various other Old World-themed entertainments, including wandering minstrels, games, food and arts-and-crafts vendors. Audience participation and costumes are strongly encouraged, and the RRCC Costume Studio can help out if you don't have the appropriate garb in your wardrobe. Costumes rent for between $15 and $30 a day, with a 10 percent discount if you mention this story; call 303-914-6458 for an appointment. For more on FAMR, call 303-914-6248 or visit www.castlewallprod.com.
