“I celebrate the color of my cottage, the flavor of fresh herbs, the festivity of food, the whimsy of my garden, and an occasional shot of tequila. Welcome to the fiesta!” writes Lucinda Hutson, author of the Herb Garden Cookbook and Tequila! Cooking With the Spirit of Mexico, who’ll be on hand to welcome you to tonight’s Fiesta in Lucinda’s Garden, at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street. Hutson, who was born and raised in El Paso and now lives in a purple cottage filled with folk art and fringed by blooming botanicals in Austin, will lead a garden tour at 5:15 p.m. of seasonal edibles that can be used in everyday cooking; at 6, there will be a Slow Food Denver social hour and tasting highlighting Colorado products and foodstuffs common in Hutson’s cookbooks; and the lecture/book signing follows at 7.

Pre-registration is $20 for Denver Botanic Gardens/Slow Food Denver members, $25 for non-members; tickets on the day of the event are $30. (The tour is an additional $5 and limited to 25 people.) To sign up, call 720-865-3580 or e-mail [email protected].
