This afternoon, the Boulder Library's Canyon Theater will be transformed into a 1940s radio studio by the Society for Creative Aging's community theater group, VIVA. The troupe, made up of actors in their sixties and older, will bring to life Frank Capra's classic film It's a Wonderful Life as a live radio play.

"It's going to be very much as if this were a radio studio in the '40s, with a live audience watching a radio play," explains director Steve Grad. With an announcer warming up the audience and period costumes to boot, the cast of sixteen voice actors will perform all 33 roles in this radio version of the heartwarming 1946 classic about a man on the verge of suicide who is given a look at what the world would be like without him.

"The theme for me is actually a really valuable one," says Grad. "It's that what we do in our life matters, without us even knowing about it."

The production runs November 26 and 27 at 2 p.m. at the Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder; there's a suggested donation of $8 at the door. For more info, visit www.s4ca.org or call 303-803-4843.
