Go Fly a Kite!
No strings attached: Today is the 24th annual One Sky One World Kite Fly. Since 1985, on the second Sunday in October, millions of people around the world have celebrated World Kite Day, a day dedicated to promoting peace and protecting the planet. From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Central Park in Stapleton, thousands of Denverites will gather to fly kites, participate in a Giant Kite competition, enjoy musical acts on a solar-power stage and browse through the Food & Wine Pavilion; theres also a Children and Pet Parade for Peace that will raise money both for the Denver Dog Park and to bring international kite artists to Denver schools. You can bring your own kite or make one in the Kite Village.
OSOW is designed to show unity through the interconnection of public education in culture, history, arts, recreation, technology and the science of kites. For the first time, Denvers event will be linked to other OSOW events around the world including in Long Beach, Minneapolis, Montreal, India and Germany via live audio/video Internet connections.
