Head Games

Skulls have long been objects of fascination, serving as powerful symbols of the macabre and dangerous — not to mention being the second most important thing inside your head. Tonight, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science hosts Simon Winchester Presents Skulls, with the best-selling science writer on hand to discuss and show slides from his recent book, Skulls: An Exploration of Alan Dudley’s Curious Collection.

The book delves into the depths of the world’s largest private collection, presenting riveting photos of hundreds of animal and human skulls alongside information about the history, science and cultural beliefs that surround them. The museum will display some of its own awesome collection of skulls as well.

“With some incredible specimens in our collection, Skulls is, of course, a great fit for the museum, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to host this exceptional best-selling storyteller and science writer,” says Liz Davis, manager of adult and children’s programs.

The presentation starts at 7 p.m. in the Phipps IMAX theater at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 2001 Colorado Boulevard. Tickets are $8 for members, $10 for non-members. For more information, visit dmns.org.
