Ice, Ice, Baby

Embrace the ephemeral nature of beauty over the next three days during the Downtown Denver Partnership's Ice Sculpting in Skyline Park. Meet in front of the holiday tree in Skyline Park, 1825 Arapahoe Street, at 10:30 a.m. today through Saturday to watch one of the most fleeting of all art forms come to life. An ice sculptor will transform a block of ice into a wonderful, seasonal work of art to the accompaniment of holiday music while you watch. The piece will be finished by 1 p.m. and exist for just a single day before being destroyed to make way for the next one.

This is the first year the Partnership has brought this free event to the park. Sarah McClean, public relations and communications manager for the DDP, says ice sculpting is just one of the many holiday-themed attractions the group has sponsored to take advantage of the park as a natural meeting place. For more information on this and other upcoming Skyline events, visit, e-mail or call 303-534-6161.
