Since it's served up some of the best-looking parties and shiniest silent auctions in town for nearly a decade, you'd expect the Design Council of the Denver Art Museum's tenth annual Design After Dark fundraising gala to follow suit. And the feel, if not the exact look, of parties past will definitely continue at Design After Dark | CAST, for which ten top artists and/or designers from across the Front Range will each create five related objects to put on the block for the event's silent auction. "We are changing up the number of artists and objects to mark the occasion, but overall, the format is on par with previous years," says designer and councilmember Melissa Belongea. And that format has worked just fine in the past.
Design After Dark -- at its heart a benefit to fund the Design Council's quest to beef up the museum's ever-growing Department of Architecture, Design and Graphics with new acquisitions and ongoing educational programs -- runs from 7 to 11 p.m. tonight at the McNichols Building, 144 West Colfax Avenue. Admission ranges from $40 to $75 in advance, with a $10 increase at the door -- if tickets remain; find information at designafterdark.denverartmuseum.org.
