It's Wonderful To Be Here
Even if more than two people worked at Audio Park Studio, the business would still be 100 percent devoted to the Beatles. That fandom shows itself on the walls, which are peppered with posters of the Fab Four, and in the sheer amount of Beatles memorabilia that co-owner Park Peters has amassed -- somewhere between 150 and 200 items, he estimates.
This weekend, the studio will celebrate that love with a full-on fete marking the 45th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
"I believe that every modern recording studio should have Beatles photos on the wall, because every modern record is influenced by the Beatles," Peters says. "With this birthday coming up, we wanted to mark that impact."
During the evening, Peters will walk party-goers through a history lesson on the creation of Sgt. Pepper's, interspersed with video clips of the quartet in action. "Audience participation is not encouraged -- it's required," Peters says. "We want everyone to talk through the changes, what it was like to record then, and how they made the process what it is now."
Then, of course, attendees will listen to the recording -- on vinyl -- and eat a Sgt. Pepper's cake. Just don't ask what that looks like. "I have no idea yet," Peters says, "but I'm sure it will be good."
The anniversary party starts at 7 p.m. Friday at Audio Park Studio, 5603 Yukon Street in Arvada. For more information, call 303-456-6122 or visit www.audiopark.biz.
