But how does it work as a musical? “The music is not operatic,” notes assistant director/choreographer/cast member Josh Walden, “but it’s so grand and beautiful — yet very accessible. Nothing about this material feels archaic or stuffy.
“It’s Jane Austen, but they’ve found a way to write this piece that really connects to a modern audience while staying true to Austen and the world that she created,” he adds. “Everything is so perfectly placed. The actors in our production are so talented, and they’re perfect for each character.”
