Curious artistic director Chip Walton, who also directs this show, thinks of the production as an example of perfect kismet for the company, and especially for starring actors Dee Covington and Erik Sandvold, who hold down the plot with veteran savvy.
“We have a history of producing dark comedies, and this is a perfect fit for that genre,” Walton says. “It’s romantic but twisted, accessible but unpredictable, and it challenges our company of designers in many new and exciting ways. I love plays that make me ask: ‘How the hell do we do that?’ And there are about four or five things in this play that beg that exact question.”
Find out how Walton and crew dealt with those challenges when Lucky Me opens tonight at 8 p.m.; shows continue at Curious, 1080 Acoma Street, through December 6. To reserve tickets, which range in price from $18 to $44, visit curioustheatre.org or call 303-623-0524.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Oct. 23. Continues through Dec. 6, 2014
