Make Magic at Hammonds
Sugar and spice and everything Christmas is the Santa song of todays Candy Cane Festival, a merry, merry tradition thats ho-ho-hosted every year by Hammonds Candies, the iconic sweets factory that spins, twists, pulls and peddles old-fashioned candy canes, lollipops, ribbon candy and chocolates.
The fest, now in its tenth year, lights up at 9 a.m. and includes Christmas carolers, trolley rides, magic tricks, a stiltwalker whose second talent is juggling, gingerbread cookie-making, arts and crafts, animals from the Denver Zoo, St. Nick and his reindeer (bring your list) and free tours of the factory. Weve been doing this for ten years, and its just a great way to kick off the holidays and get people in the spirit of Christmas, plus its a nice way to spend some time with your family, says Hammonds project manager Kammy Stucker, adding that the tours, while shorter than usual, are still one of the primary attractions: We need to make the tours a bit shorter because we have so many people, but everyone who takes a tour will still get to see how all of our candy is made and taste some samples.
Hammonds is at 5735 North Washington Street; for more info, call 303-333-5588 or visit www.hammondscandies.com.
