If you love collecting books, 400-year-old hand-painted maps, rejection letters of famous authors, pictures, old movie posters, hand-colored illustrations and bindings more interesting than the books theyre holding together, then this event is for you. Its a really unique opportunity to look at books and maps and other paper collectibles as an art, says coordinator Naioma Walberg. Some of these are hand-painted, handmade paper; some of them are even handmade books. The unique part is the variety. In addition to a large cross-section of vendors, the 24th iteration of the RMBPF will also feature Book Arts Row, where the Book Arts League and the Guild of Paper Works will demonstrate such skills as how to sew a binding and how to tool leather.
The fair takes place at the Denver Merchandise Mart, 451 East 58th Avenue #4270; admission is $6 on Friday and $4 on Saturday. For more information, go to www.rmaba.org.
