Passion for Fashion
Fort Collins is not exactly a fashion hub. No offense to the northerly nabe, but hand-knit socks paired with Tevas and, say, a sweat-stained New Belgium cap leaves something to be desired. Practical, yes. Chic? Not on your life. It comes as a surprise, then, that artist Trudie Roberts swears ArtWear Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center, 417 West Magnolia Street in downtown Fort Collins, happens to boast major-league prestige in the wearable-art world. Roberts has exhibited her trademarked brand of weaving, California Rags, for each one of the thirteen years this event has taken place, and "it's really come into its own over the years," she attests.
Help kick off the week-long expo of trunk shows, workshops and free demonstrations with a reception tonight at 7 p.m., followed by a fashion show at 8. For tickets, $50, and information on the week's activities, call 1-970-221-6730 or go to www.lctix.com.
Fri., Sept. 8, 7 p.m.
