Whether it’s baseball, burgers or men in uniforms, the Colorado Rockies’ season opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks has something for everyone to love. And this year, Coors Field will be showing off a brand-new, 38,000-square-foot rooftop deck that boasts “incredible panoramic views of the Front Range and downtown Denver,” says team spokesman Jay Alves. It also includes some local flavor, in the form of an extension of the Tavern pub chain, a CHUBurger from Oskar Blues, and a margarita bar from Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant; standing-room-only tickets are available for the area.
As for the Rockies themselves? “Our baseball staff spent a great deal of time and effort adding depth and talent to our overall club,” Alves says. “We added starting pitching, right-handed power bats and a veteran presence to an already strong returning roster.”
The game starts at 2:10 p.m. at Coors Field, 2001 Blake Street, but the bars in LoDo will open long before that and many will offer Opening Day specials and a party-like atmosphere.
Although tickets are sold out, you can still buy them on web sites like stubhub.com (and from scalpers). Or you can just watch the game on TV on Root Sports, Channel 26.
