Rocky Opera

Bust out the gold lamé hot pants and French maid outfits, because The Rocky Horror Picture Show Experience is alive and well in Denver at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe Street. Come down and thrill to the ultra-campy cult favorite, indulge in its elaborate audience-participation rituals and dance the Time Warp again — even if it’s for the first time. The classic film — which has run continuously in theaters since its 1975 release — is a sexed-up, gender-bending parody of classic sci-fi B-movies, full of cross-dressing aliens, mad science and musical numbers. It’s more than just a movie, too: A dedicated, experienced band of actors will perform along-side the film, in real time. “They’re just a wacky bunch of people who just love doing it,” explains Lannie Garrett, owner of the Cabaret. “It’s like that Trekkie thing; it’s just a group of people who love to show up week after week and be part of this crowd. It’s really fun.”

The horror starts at 11 p.m. every Friday night through December 26. Tickets for the performance are $10, and you must be 21 or older to attend. Costumes are encouraged, and don’t forget your props — or just come as you are and enjoy the insane spectacle. For more info, visit or call 303-293-0075.
Fridays, 11 p.m. Starts: Nov. 7. Continues through Dec. 26, 2008
