Garth Sundem says his new book was born of personal need. "There are a lot of things that I do poorly," explains Sundem. "But for everything that I do poorly, someone has figured out how to actually do it right, and those people are scientists." For Brain Trust: 93 Top Scientists Reveal Lab-Tested Secrets to Surfing, Dating, Dieting, Gambling, Growing Man-Eating Plants, and More!, Sundem interviewed researchers to uncover their hippest tips, from how to diet better by only eating eight hours a day to playing unpopular numbers on the lottery for a better rate of return -- even how to get your spouse to do more housework.
His book details the science-based ways to accomplish these tasks and many more, straight from the brains of MacArthur fellows, Nobel laureates and National Medal of Science winners. "I hope that people are simply fascinated the way I was," says Sundem.
Sundem will present puzzles, answer questions and sign Brain Trust tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover LoDo, 1628 16th Street. For more information, call or 303-436-1070 or visit www.tatteredcover.com.
