Despite what you see in the media, drinking is fun for a variety of people. Geeks enjoy the warm, pleasant buzz of beer just as much as any jock, frat boy, bombshell or sorostitute. And many of them enjoy being geeks. That's why the Geeks Who Drink pub-quiz sessions have been so popular, and that's why any geek worth his or her malt will be at tonight's version of the GWD Super Bowl: Geek Bowl 2007.
"There are nerdy people who like to go out to bars and get their nerd on," confirms quizmaster-in-chief John Dicker. The battle will include halftime entertainment by Dave Burdick and Westword's own Adam Cayton-Holland. The fee is $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door for both spectators and Bowl participants; a full team of six players may enter for $75. The quizzing starts at 6 p.m. at the Oriental Theater, 4335 West 44th Avenue; visit www.geekswhodrink.com or www.theorientaltheater.com for more.
Sun., Jan. 28, 6 p.m.
