Even with the Judeo-Christian precedent of Creation in seven days, isnt it arrogant to expect to solve many of the worlds problems in the same time span? Thats what was on the table when the Dalai Lama invited forty Western-thought leaders to the Himalayas for a week-long retreat. The resulting Harrison Ford-narrated Dalai Lama Renaissance has won international acclaim and twelve film festival awards since its limited release.
Tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th Street in Boulder, Renaissance explores the inner and outer journey of this dream team of economists, educators, quantum physicists, astronomers, government and environmental experts, spiritual leaders and many others. What everyone expected is that the Westerners would come up with concrete solutions to the worlds problems, says producer/director/editor Khashyar Darvich. About halfway through, I realized that the real essence of the event was about the energy of the people and not any outer solution. Afterward, they went out into their fields armed with inner inspiration and they made a positive impact on the world.
Admission is $10; for information, call 303-786-7030 or go to www.bouldertheater.com.
