Ski Incognito

Marc Moline, creative director and park designer at Echo Mountain ski resort, has long been a fan of TransWorld Snowboarding’s annual Team Challenge, in which the world’s best riders don silly uniforms for a competition that is as much about style as it is about skill. “It always looked like such a fun event, but it was so exclusive to just pro riders representing the major snowboard companies,” Moline says. “We wanted to take that format and make it more accessible to the everyday rider.”

The first Echo Team Challenge, which took place in 2007, brought three-person teams dressed as unicorns, escaped convicts, ’80s-style gymnasts and yeti men. The unicorns — better known as Team Majestic — stick out in Moline’s mind as having the most hilarious costumes yet. To steal their glory, grab two of your closest jib- and rail-loving friends and hit the thrift shop on your way to the mountain today for the event’s third annual incarnation. Teams can be coed and include skis and snowboards and all levels of ability. “There are no real restrictions as far as how they’re comprised,” Moline says. “They’re judged on their team theme and overall riding — not who’s the best, but how they work together as a team.”

Advance registration is $18 at, or register today in person, beginning at 9 a.m., for $24.
