Skis and Brewskis
Since 1991, the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo has been the go-to event for stocking up on winter gear at discounts of up to 75 percent, as well as grabbing procrastinators’ deals on season passes, ski area four-packs, lesson packages and backcountry adventures. And this year, thanks to the addition of the Rocky Mountain Brew Fest — featuring locals Breckenridge Brewery, Boulder Beer, Bristol Brewing, Left Hand Brewing, Odell Brewing and Oskar Blues — the Expo, held at the Colorado Convention Center, could also be the next best thing to an actual après-ski party.
“This is the largest ski and snowboard sale in the state, and there are going to be some very huge deals to be had for the Expo’s twentieth anniversary,” promises spokeswoman Joan Christensen. “That’s what brings people — those can’t-beat prices — but there’s also a ton of entertainment, and you could easily spend three or four hours there with the Brew Fest, activities for kids of all ages, and live trampoline, mountain-board and -bike shows featuring the Flying Aces, the RipStoke mountain-bike team and the MBS Mountain-boards team.”
The Expo runs from noon to 10 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in Exhibit Hall F of the convention center, 700 14th Street. Admission is $12 at the door, or $10 with a coupon from www.onthesnow.com, where you can also find more information; kids twelve and under get in free.
Fri., Nov. 4, 12-10 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 5, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 6, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., 2011
