Soup for You

Expect something special when Joel McHale, star of E!’s The Soup, hits the stage of the Paramount Theatre tonight. “I come out wearing the largest codpiece in North America…because I want to impress the ladies,” he says. “Then I talk about Ryan Seacrest for two hours.”

With a little prodding, McHale reveals that it isn’t just Seacrest he’ll poke fun at. Other pop-culture train wrecks will receive the benefit of his rapier-edged wit as well, along with traditional comedy stalwarts like his family. But it’s mostly Seacrest. “He is an apparition. He is omniscient. He hears us talking right now,” McHale says. “He is a force to be reckoned with.”

Fans of The Soup might also learn a few secrets about the show. “The background is actually a big green curtain. There’s actually seventy to eighty people in our audience,” McHale admits. “I’m wearing a series of trusses and girdles to keep things in. I have three nipples, but not all on my chest. The dog is actually a Great Dane that never developed.”

Catch McHale at 7:30 or 10 p.m. tonight at the Paramount Theatre, 1621 Glenarm Place. For tickets, $34.50 to $39.50, and additional information, visit or call 1-866-461-6556.
