What do soda pop and extreme death rituals of Borneo have to do with each other? Is there any connection between craft beer and Renaissance polyphony? Not on the surface -- but then, the Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar has a reputation for delving deep beneath the obvious in its exhibitions and programming. The aforementioned pairings are all topics of the Labs Mixed Taste Lecture Series, wherein two speakers tag-team on seemingly unrelated topics. Thats followed by a mash-up question-and-answer session where anything can happen.
Tonight, find out what Motown and Gonzo Journalism have in common at Mixed Taste, featuring Motown expert Arthur Jones and gonzo go-to Anita Thompson, wife of the late Hunter S. Thompson. Tickets are $7.50 for members and $12.50 for the general public. The lecture starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Lab, 404 South Upham Street in Belmar; reservations and early arrival are both highly encouraged, as this event tends to fill up fast.
