Loveland Ski Areas twice-annual amateur slopestyle skiing and snowboarding competition is a celebration of that most ridiculous staple of new-school spring ski fashion: the extra tall T-shirt.
Last year we only ordered large and extra-large shirts, but even the littlest kids wanted the XLs, says Loveland spokesman John Sellers. I mean, were talking about T-shirts that are already extra-tall to begin with, but they just couldnt get them big enough.
So Sellers made sure to order this years Tall Tees and Tacos contest swag in even larger sizes. The shirts are part of the $20 registration fee, which also includes free lunch from Wahoos Fish Tacos and a chance at $10,000 in prizes, with free skis, snowboards, jackets, helmets, goggles and other gear on the line. Stop by the Rathskeller at the base lodge starting at 8 a.m. today to get on the list: The contest is limited to eighty competitors, and youll want to get there early to get the most stupidly tall T-shirts available. (If you miss out, youll get another chance on April 23.) Its always a good time, says Sellers. Its a really casual but competitive event that brings out a lot of the younger kids to come rip it up with the older guys.
