Taste vs. Humor
You'd think humor this raunchy would have to come from the States. But the fart-blowing, semen-producing, squid-hat-wearing genius that is the Canadian reality-TV series pitting roommates Kenny and Spenny against each other in weekly competitions of will and sabotage has taken three long years to make its way south.
Having already spawned several copycats and spinoffs including the hilarious Ed vs. Spencer, which you may have caught briefly on BBC America last year the fourth season of Canada's beloved Kenny vs. Spenny has found an American home at Comedy Central. And South Park's Matt Stone and Trey Parker have been brought in as executive producers for the new episodes, which will air Sundays at 11:30 p.m. beginning November 18. But for those of you too excited to wait that long, Comedy Central will air a sneak-peek presentation of the episode "Who Can Blow The Biggest Fart?" tonight (or tomorrow morning, if you want to get picky) at 12:30 a.m.
The basic premise of every episode is this: Kenny and Spenny agree on a challenge, Spenny sticks to the rules while Kenny plans some treachery set to a Wagner soundtrack, and the loser has to capitulate with an act of humiliation chosen by the winner. Viewers will either love or hate these two hosers, and will definitely know on which side of the line they fall by the time Kenny breaks out the bicycle pump in this first flatulent installment. American audiences can only hope that, four seasons in, ideas for future challenges can compete with the riotous debauchery of previous seasons. If the fourth season can produce anything like the episode "Who Can Wear a Squid on His Head the Longest?" where Kenny dosed Spenny with LSD, prompting Spenny to release the squid into a lake we're in for a disgusting, voyeuristic treat.
