The Ultimate Fishing Story
Tonight, the ninth annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival, out of Nevada City, California, brings its national tour to Boulders Neptune Mountaineering. The fest will include a screening of this years Peoples Choice award winner, Eastern Rises, and nearly a dozen shorts. Eastern Rises, from Ben Knight and Travis Rummel, documents an epic fly-fishing excursion to remote Kamchatka, Russia, which the filmmakers call one of the last wild places on earth.
These films really put a face to whats at stake when we talk about wilderness conservation and protection, says Colorado Mountain Club spokeswoman Rachel Scott. If the films have you feeling inspired to learn more about wild and scenic adventure opportunities and conservation projects here in your own back yard, well be set up at the festival to sign up new CMC members and share more about our programs and upcoming trips.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. and includes a raffle of outdoor gear and tickets to next months Planet Bluegrass festival in Lyons, among other prizes. There will also be a happy hour with Sierra Nevada beer prior to the screening. Neptune Mountaineering is located at 633 South Broadway in Boulder. Tickets, $10, benefit the Colorado Mountain Clubs statewide conservation stewardship programs. For more information, visit www.neptunemountaineering.com.
