Through the Woods
The largest show of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region, the International Sportsmen's Exposition, which opens today at the convention center, is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. Hundreds of vendors and merchants presenting the latest in hunting, fishing and camping technology and services will converge under one roof for a massive sale and a weekend of education and interactive exhibitions.
"What makes the Sportsmen's Expo unique is that we bring in experts from around the country who can talk about the rivers they guide, the places they help people fish, and the areas they hunt," says spokesman Jim Czupor. Along with that professional guidance, the exposition hosts live casting and fishing demonstrations in on-site water tanks, as well as hands-on archery ranges and hunting-dog showcases. A Youth Fair geared specifically toward kids will feature similar activities for the little ones, allowing them to try their hands at many outdoor sports.
The 37th annual International Sportsmen's Expo opens at 11 a.m. at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, and runs through Sunday. Regular admission is $15 (military personnel with ID and children under sixteen are admitted free). Hours vary; for more information, visit sportsexpos.com.
