Travel the Town
Each and every one of Denvers gallery districts boasts its own charms, but the Art District on Santa Fe, with its ten blocks of galleries, businesses and studios, is most likely the busiest. And now, in tandem with the Biennial, the district is hosting an internationally themed Passport to the Arts, which offers patrons a chance to win prizes as a thank-you gift for visiting as many galleries as they can in a given period of time.
Heres the deal: Pick up your passport at any participating gallery (or download at the website) and get it stamped at every venue you visit during tonights Third Friday gallery walk from 6 to 9 p.m. or tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m. Then, fill in your contact information and drop the whole thing in the slot at John Fielders Colorado, 833 Santa Fe Drive. Prizes range from books and works of art to the grand award, a $500 gift certificate to buy art or merchandise at any participating venue.
If people havent visited the district for a while, this is an opportunity to see how much weve grown how the diversity of the art has increased, the type of art we have and the quality of it, which is excellent, says district spokeswoman Cheryl Opperman. For details and a passport, go to www.artdistrictonsantafe.com.
Fri., July 16, 6-9 p.m.; Sat., July 17, 12-5 p.m., 2010
