When the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver absorbed Belmars Laboratory of Art and Ideas, it added a few twists to the Labs uber-popular Mixed Taste: Tag Team Lectures on Unrelated Topics, which mashes together two talks on completely different subjects, in the process uncovering unsuspected links between them. MCA Denver kicks off the next round of the series on June 5 with the strange-bedfellows pairing of Show Tunes & Aquatic Plants, featuring Mayor John Hickenlooper discussing the former and Kirk Johnson, vice president/chief curator at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, tackling the latter.
The new Mixed Taste features some tasty extras: It begins with Mixed Drinks from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the lecture from 6:30 to 8, then a Mixed Grill dinner and an After Taste get-together at the rooftop MCA Cafe. Theres even a Mixed Kids addition, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m.
