Today’s AIDS Walk Colorado, at Cheesman Park, is a multifaceted event as well as the largest fundraiser for HIV and AIDS in the state. Aside from the annual 5K walk and a 5K qualifying run for the Bolder Boulder, the day will include a “Celebration of Life” Festival, with races and games, a display of panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt, and food, drinks and live music. Proceeds from today’s activities will go to the Colorado AIDS Project, which provides support and education to those affected by HIV and AIDS in the metro area.
Registration for the 26th annual AIDS Walk Colorado begins at 7:30 a.m. at the park; runners and walkers will take off in waves starting at 9. A volleyball tournament sponsored by the Colorado Gay Volleyball Association follows at 10, with a .5K Stiletto Fun Run taking place at 11:30. Registration is free for walkers and $30 for runners; participants may join individually or as a team.
