Wrap It Up
When Fancy Tiger announced earlier this year that it wouldn’t be hosting its annual holiday craft market, which had grown exponentially — almost unmanageably — during its five fabulous years, it left a lot of handmade-gift fans foundering, in search of somewhere else to shop. Happily, many other established markets have upped the ante to fill the void. Still more, like MegaFauna, host of today’s Local Holiday Headquarters, have joined the party to raise awareness of local artisans and small businesses by opening their doors to shoppers and holiday vendors. “I like the theme of the event,” notes MegaFauna founder John McCaskill. “It lets us steal a little thunder from all the larger corporate groups.” McCaskill says it’s the business’s way of supporting the community.
From 2 to 7 p.m., MegaFauna, 3102 Blake Street, will host twelve tables representing seventy local artists and crafters, including Ruckus Apparel and the local crafting crew from Urban Cipher, along with live screenprinting by DeRailed Ink and live painting by Nkosi Still. The boutique’s resident eatery, Gigi’s, will also serve up home cookin’ and holiday treats to keep you fortified for the one-stop-shopping experience. Admission is free; visit megafaunastore.com or call 720-982-8049 for more information.
Sat., Nov. 23, 2-7 p.m., 2013
