You’re Looking Green
Drink with friends, drink with strangers, or just drink with folks dressed in green at tonight’s official kickoff of the Green Kegs & Hammered St. Paddy’s Day Bar Crawl. Champion beer-tasters and marathon party-goers are invited to mark the start of the Irish holiday at Maloney’s Tavern, 1432 Market Street, then venture out to various destinations across LoDo for a weekend-long bar crawl. Unlike other endurance-testing events, this crawl is all about navigating the city your way. A map will be given to each participant showing the bars involved, but there’s no need to stay with the group: Drinkers are encouraged to wander through this St. Paddy’s block party as they please.
And while they do, other celebrants will be partying across the country. “For the first time ever, we’re trying to create simultaneous events in cities like Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and more,” explains Julie Ltaif, the Denver edition’s coordinator. T-shirts, mugs and plenty of shiny green shamrock-themed jewelry will be handed out as part of the nationwide party, and each participating bar will have drink specials just for crawlers.
The St. Paddy’s Day Bar Crawl starts at 5 p.m. at Maloney’s; wristbands run $5 to $15 and can be purchased online at www.barcrawls.com/denver (where you’ll also find a complete list of participating LoDo bars) or at the door.
