If you think dinosaurs are just for kids, think again. Recent discoveries such as the Liaoning Forest site plus advances in computational science have allowed scientists to re-evaluate earlier thinking. Far from presenting the usual oversized green lizards with sharp teeth and scales, modern conceptions of these extinct creatures sway more toward modern-day birds — often with brightly colored feathers.

On view today at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 2001 Colorado Boulevard, Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries will prompt viewers to reconsider their ideas about ancient history. Attractions include a 700-square-foot diorama of the Liaoning Forest, education stations and a chance to dig for dinosaur bones and create a fossil cast. Also, the IMAX film Dinosaurs Alive uses computational data from paleontological research to bring these creatures to life.

Exhibition tickets are included with museum admission (IMAX is extra). For more information, visit http://dmns.org/dinosaurs or call 303-322-7009.
