You can almost see the four members of Makeout Point nodding at the beginning of "Breaking Point," when the guitar rises from the white noise and the drums come tripping in. It's the band's moment of arrival, the fifteen seconds when it is clearest that they have something here worth exploring. There are other glimmers on the three-song demo that come close to delivering on the band's promise — that is, figuring out how bands like the Minutemen used not having money as an asset. Fans of Georgia Hubley and Calvin Johnson will dig the vocals as long as they don't pay attention to the lyrics, which we'll chalk up to a nasty breakup. But those fifteen seconds are the hand to bet if you're Makeout Point.
