ArgusFest founder and operator Jason Bosch spends a lot of time watching documentaries; after viewing Food, Inc., which documents the hidden costs of large-scale agricultural production, he was ready for something that continued to examine the food-production industry but also offered positive examples for viewers who could incorporate some of their new knowledge into their own eating habits.

"I think Fresh shows a more positive outlook of what people are doing, alternative methods and local community agriculture," Bosch notes. "It just follows different things that people are doing to create healthier, more sustainable ways of producing food."

So it's fitting that ArgusFest is screening Fresh at SAME (So All May Eat) Cafe, a local restaurant that offers healthy meals and asks only that patrons pay what they feel the meal is worth. "That's the kind of thing we're trying to promote by showing this film: getting people to think about the food they eat and where it comes from, particularly as it relates to peak oil and the environment," Bosch says. "That's something most people don't think about; they just go to the grocery store and pick up whatever."

Fresh screens tonight at 7 p.m. at the cafe, 2023 East Colfax Avenue; admission is by donation, and a discussion will follow the film. Visit www.argusfest.org.
